I had an exhausting and fulfilling weekend in Montreal with my mom and the Kids. I will tell all later, with pictures, when I get home. (I'm crashing at my folks' tonight.)

All I'll say now is that it felt really good to see new material, and to see Kevin onstage performing his one-man show, and to see people I hadn't seen in ages, and to feel welcomed by them and show my mom that, yeah, they do really like me. For some reason.

Highlights include:

  • A new sketch called "Imaginary Girlfriend", the premise of which Gina, although she didn't get to see this show, somehow managed to independently invent for a CD mix she's brewing. (Or else Gina and Foley have been writing sketch comedy behind my back by email. I wouldn't put it past either of them. ;)

  • Kevin's entire show. I will speak more of it later. It rather blew me away.

  • Mark responding to my bold communique to crush my head from the second tier, second row balcony (he tried!)

  • A lovely woman whom I'd never met introduced herself to me as a fan of my Dave page and I snapped a shot of her meeting Dave for the first time.

  • Craig Northey chatting graciously and effusively with my mom backstage (and he was the only one, bless him, who didn't address her as "Tavie's mom", but rather as "Dea".)

  • Scott bending my ear about his plans for "New Scottland" and asking me which of his paintings for Buddy Cole's blog I liked best (Pearl Jewell, naturelement.)

  • Bruce tickling my arm as I squeezed past him to leave.

  • Maple sugar pie. (Yes, I caved. Goddammit.)

  • Dave trying to explain to me that "Sortie" means "exit" (yes, I KNOW!) when we couldn't find our way out of the building. Oh, and his blue, blue eyes...

And it was just generally great to gad about Montreal with Gina and Pena (those words do not rhyme, I just can't find the enyay on a PC.) And spend a lot of really good quality time with me mum.

Plus, I see Eddie Izzard at the airport and Seth Green was on my flight home. A little celebrity icing on the cake, non?

Thanks for the trip, old mum. I told you I'd let you tell Mark in person how much you loved Slings and Arrows!

    More later...
